Writing resume bullets that show impact
4 min read · Updated 1 October 2026
Hiring managers skim. Bullets that show what changed because of you are far easier to remember than lists of duties.
A simple formula
Action verb + what you did + how/with what + result. “Reduced API p95 latency from 900ms to 550ms by adding a Redis cache layer.”
If you don’t have exact numbers
- Use honest estimates and label them (“~30%”, “roughly 2 hours per week”).
- Describe scale: users, requests, team size, budget, number of markets.
- Describe speed: before/after turnaround, release frequency.
- If there’s truly nothing measurable, describe the outcome qualitatively — never fabricate.
Keep a career vault
Write achievements down when they happen. In Remotavia you can store them once in your career vault and insert the most relevant ones into each tailored resume.
