Snowflake Platform Administrator | About You

As a Snowflake Platform Administrator, you will be responsible for administering, governing, securing, and optimizing the enterprise Snowflake data platform. You will manage core platform operations while enabling governed data discovery, semantic access, metadata management, data quality, lineage, and AI capabilities through Snowflake Horizon Catalog and Cortex. You will work closely with Data Engineering, Data Governance, Security, Data Owners, and Data Stewards to ensure enterprise data assets are secure, discoverable, reliable, cost-effective, and accessible to authorized analytics applications, business users, and AI solutions.

Snowflake Platform Administrator | Day-to-Day

• Administer and optimize the Snowflake enterprise platform, including accounts, databases, schemas, warehouses, roles, platform configurations, performance, availability, consumption, and cost management.
• Configure and manage Snowflake Horizon Catalog, enabling metadata management, enterprise data discovery, searchable data assets, governed data products, and standardized business definitions.
• Implement and maintain Snowflake security and governance controls, including RBAC, role hierarchies, tagging, automated data classification, masking policies, row-access policies, least-privilege access, and sensitive-data protection.
• Configure and support semantic views and Snowflake Cortex capabilities, including Cortex Analyst, Cortex Search, MCP Servers, governed metrics, dimensions, relationships, and secure access for AI applications and agents.
• Establish and monitor data quality, lineage, and governance controls, including data metric functions, freshness and completeness monitoring, column/object-level lineage, alerts, exception reporting, dependency analysis, and Snowsight dashboards.
• Administer Snowflake Marketplace and secure data sharing, including provider/consumer permissions, controlled data-product publication, usage monitoring, governance compliance, and associated costs.
• Drive platform operational excellence through automation, change management, security baselines, incident support, CI/CD practices, monitoring, and collaboration with Data Engineering teams to resolve metadata, lineage, performance, and platform issues.

Snowflake Platform Administrator | Skills & Experience

• 3+ years of hands-on Snowflake administration experience within an enterprise environment, including platform configuration, SQL, Snowsight, warehouse management, performance monitoring, and cost optimization.
• Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake Horizon Catalog, metadata management, data discovery, object tagging, automated classification, and enterprise data governance capabilities.
• Strong knowledge of Snowflake security and access management, including RBAC, role hierarchies, masking, row-access policies, sensitive-data protection, identity management, and least-privilege access models.
• Experience configuring semantic views and Snowflake Cortex capabilities, including Cortex Analyst, Cortex Search, and governed data access for analytics and AI use cases.
• Experience implementing data quality monitoring, lineage, governed data sharing, Snowflake Marketplace, metadata reporting, and audit-ready governance controls; familiarity with DAMA-DMBOK principles is advantageous.
• Familiarity with APIs, infrastructure automation, CI/CD, cloud security, identity management, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP; SnowPro certifications are preferred.
