About the role

About the Company

Armada is the hyperscaler for the edge, delivering modular AI infrastructure from first deployment to AI factory with speed, scale and sovereignty. Named one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies and to the CNBC Disruptor 50, Armada’s solutions are deployed in over 60 countries globally for organizations ranging from energy to defense.

With nearly $500 million in funding to date, Armada is backed by leading investors including Founders Fund, Lux, BlackRock and Microsoft (M12), alongside strategic partnerships with Microsoft, Dell, Palantir, NVIDIA, SpaceX, and Skydio. We are building the infrastructure layer for sovereign and edge AI - rugged, deployable compute for customers that cannot rely on centralized cloud.

Working at Armada means taking ownership, driving autonomy, and delivering impact. You’ll tackle challenges that haven’t been solved before and help build something transformative from the ground up. What you do here will not only define your career but help further Armada’s mission to bridge the digital divide for customers around the world.

About the Role

As a Senior Accountant at Armada, you will be a key member of our growing Finance team, responsible for maintaining the integrity of our financial records as we scale rapidly. You will manage assigned areas of the general ledger function, support month-end and year-end close processes, and partner cross-functionally with teams across the business to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

This is a general GL role with real breadth. Depending on business needs, your scope will span AP, AR, revenue, expenses, fixed assets and depreciation, debt, and leases, and it will shift as Armada grows. Our Galleon program (modular, deployed data centers) is a core part of the business and a meaningful piece of this role, including inventory, CIP, capitalization, and fixed asset accounting, but it is one of several areas you will cover rather than the whole job.

The ideal candidate is technically strong, highly organized, and excited about building scalable processes at one of the most exciting companies in AI infrastructure. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, takes ownership, and enjoys building scalable processes in a high-growth environment.

Location. This role is remote-based in SF Bay Area, NYC, or Seattle.

Main responsibilities:

General Accounting & Close Responsibilities

  • Execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close tasks for assigned areas, following the close calendar and ensuring entries are posted accurately and on time
  • Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries, accruals, reclasses, and adjustments with clear supporting documentation
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations across balance sheet accounts, tie subledgers to the GL, and investigate and clear reconciling items promptly
  • Perform cash and bank reconciliations, and manage prepaid expense tracking and amortization across vendors and cost categories
  • Review GL activity for misclassifications, cutoff issues, and unusual balances; propose and make corrections before the books are finalized
  • Maintain close checklists and supporting schedules; flag late inputs, open items, and risks to the Accounting Manager and Controller
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial packages and flux analyses, explaining variances in terms of business drivers
  • Maintain clean, audit-ready workpapers and support external audit and due diligence requests

Transaction Cycles

  • Accounts Payable: Review the AP subledger and vendor accruals; support the invoice-to-pay process, including coding and approvals; ensure proper cutoff and timely reconciliation to the GL
  • Accounts Receivable: Support billing, cash application, collections, and AR aging; review reserves and write-offs; reconcile AR and deferred revenue activity to the GL
  • Revenue: Partner with Revenue Accounting to support revenue recognition under ASC 606, including contract review inputs, deferred revenue, and cost of sales matching, including for Galleon-related transactions
  • Expenses: Review operating expenses, T&E, payroll, benefits, and commissions entries; monitor accruals, prepaids, and budget-to-actual variances with department owners
  • Fixed Assets & Depreciation: Maintain the fixed asset subledger and depreciation schedules (including useful lives and methodologies); manage CIP and timely capitalization; reconcile monthly to the GL
  • Debt & Financing: Maintain debt schedules and record drawdowns, interest, fees, and covenant-related support; coordinate with Treasury and Finance leadership on financing activity
  • Leases: Maintain ASC 842 lease schedules for office and equipment leases, including new leases, modifications, ROU assets, and lease liabilities; reconcile to the GL
  • Inventory & Insurance: Support inventory and CIP accounting, capitalization of freight, installation, and other directly attributable costs, and prepaid insurance balances and claims

Galleon Program Support

  • Serve as an accounting resource for Galleon transactions across procurement, inventory, CIP, capitalization, deployment, redeployment, retirement, and disposal
  • Help administer the Company's fixed asset management system (NetAsset), ensuring accurate asset records and supporting process improvements
  • Track Galleon movements to keep the fixed asset subledger aligned with current fleet status; support physical inventory and fixed asset counts and resolve discrepancies

Cross-Functional & Process Improvement

  • Partner with FP&A on capex, depreciation, and expense forecasting
  • Act as a finance partner to Operations, Procurement, Supply Chain, Legal, and HR/Payroll, providing accounting guidance and ensuring proper documentation
  • Partner with Revenue Accounting and Finance leadership on accounting considerations related to customer arrangements and new business models
  • Design and maintain internal controls over your assigned cycles and keep process documentation (SOPs) current
  • Identify automation opportunities and help scale accounting processes, ERP workflows, and reporting capabilities
  • Assist with technical accounting research, policy development, and special projects as the company grows

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Active CPA license required
  • 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience. We prefer a combination of public accounting (Big 4 or regional firm) and corporate accounting, with hands-on, in-house GL experience valued as much as audit background. Experience in high-growth or startup environments is strongly preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required, including the ability to analyze large datasets, build scalable reconciliations, and develop efficient reporting schedules. Experience with Power Query or similar automation tools is a plus
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP across the full GL, including ASC 606 (Revenue), ASC 842 (Leases), ASC 360 (Fixed Assets), ASC 470 (Debt), and internal controls; familiarity with ASC 330 (Inventory) is a plus

  • Demonstrated success improving accounting processes, implementing controls, or supporting system enhancements
  • High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently with a high degree of ownership
  • Excellent communication skills; able to translate complex accounting concepts for cross-functional partners
  • Strong sense of accountability, business judgment, and a proactive approach to problem solving
