Data Governance Specialist

About the role: 

What data do we have? How sensitive and critical is it? Who owns it, and who knows it best? Who can access it, who actually does, and why? These fundamental questions are often surprisingly complex in practice. As part of our Data & AI Governance team, you'll help shape how Redcare Pharmacy governs data throughout its lifecycle, making it easier to discover, understand, and use responsibly. You'll play an active role in managing our data catalog and our service desk, helping teams navigate governance requirements and adopt practical solutions that balance innovation with effective risk management.

About the tech stack: 

You will work in a modern Data & AI environment where hands-on experience with Databricks, Purview, and the Azure ecosystem is a strong plus. Experience with Python and SQL will be valuable for identifying automation opportunities and further optimizing our governance processes. 

About your tasks: 

• Shape and strengthen our data governance practices: Implement governance controls and enrich our data catalog by improving data classification, data quality, access to data products, and data lineage, while maintaining clear records of data owners and stewards. 

• Make governance smarter through automation: Identify opportunities to optimize processes and implement automations that make governance more efficient, scalable, and user-friendly. 

• Turn governance into everyday practice: Partner with data and AI engineers and business stakeholders across the organization to develop practical governance solutions that become a natural part of our daily workflows. 

• Strengthen transparency and auditability: Collaborate with Governance, Risk & Compliance experts to continuously improve our end-to-end audit trail and ensure our data-related processes are transparent and traceable. 

Qualifications

About you: 

• You bring 3+ years of hands-on experience managing and enriching data catalogs, using platforms such as Purview, Databricks, Collibra, or similar tools. Hands-on experience with Python and SQL is a strong plus. 

• You have a solid understanding of data governance principles and practices, including data quality, classification, lineage, access management, and data ownership, as well as familiarity with relevant regulations and standards. 

• You bring analytical thinking and enjoy working with structured data, identifying process improvements, and exploring automation opportunities. 

• You feel confident working in a distributed team and appreciate the balance of independence and collaboration, especially when partnering with technical experts and business stakeholders.
