The focus of this role is on providing strong engineering leadership, establishing high technical standards, and remaining a hands-on contributor throughout the software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the technical delivery of CatalyX Blockchain Manager while contributing to the product codebase through implementation and code reviews.
  • Lead and mentor a distributed team of engineers, setting the bar for code quality, testing, and delivery pace through your own work.
  • Break down product and client requirements into clear technical tasks, estimates, and a realistic sprint plan.
  • Lead the technical investigation and resolution of critical issues and capture lessons learned.
  • Uphold engineering best practices throughout the SDLC.
  • Drive effective and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools within the team, setting standards for when to rely on them and how to review their output.

Requirements

Must Have:

  • 7+ years of experience as a software engineer, working in a globally distributed development environment.
  • Proven experience leading development teams while remaining an active, hands-on contributor.
  • Excellent programming skills and experience in Java.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and enterprise integration patterns.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes.
  • Strong SQL skills (PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with OAuth/OIDC (Keycloak, Auth0).
  • DevOps skills: CI/CD, GitOps, IaC, observability.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TLS, DNS, load balancing, service-to-service communication) in distributed environments.
  • Experienced user of AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) with sound judgment on where they accelerate delivery and where they introduce risk.
  • Clear communicator who can align engineers, the architect, and product stakeholders.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with blockchain technologies: Canton/Daml or other enterprise blockchain frameworks
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to provide honest, actionable feedback that motivates the team.
  • Skilled in acting as a stabilizing anchor during production incidents and leading blameless post-mortems.
  • Demonstrated success in balancing speed with quality while keeping the team focused on the core goal.
  • Expertise in collaborating effectively across different time zones, cultures, and communication styles, primarily in writing.
  • A history of keeping engineering, architecture, and product teams aligned and on the same page.

We guarantee:

  • Global client interaction in a dynamic company serving the market for 15+ years with offices in Miami, Antwerp, Leuven, Lisbon, Viseu, Kyiv, Krakow, and New York.
  • Passionate team in an innovative casual, positive, and open work environment ready to meet your new ideas.
  • Great opportunities for personal and professional development as well as the chance to change the way the business works in the financial world.
  • Work where you're most productive: remote, in-office, or hybrid options available.
