About Wavelength

Wavelength is a media, marketing and management company. We build brands and drive commercial growth through creator and athlete campaigns, live event activations and guaranteed social media reach. We specialise in sports, health, fitness, automotive and adventure travel.

Together they have an audience of more than 320 million fans and deliver over 950 million video views a month across the major social platforms. Our roster includes more than 200 creators and athletes.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced independent Media Lawyer to support us on an ad hoc basis, picking up matters as they come in. We need someone with broad experience across media, events, sports, entertainment and creators/athletes, including intellectual property, licensing, brand partnerships and rights management.

As an independent operator, you will advise our team directly and turn matters around quickly. You should bring a practical and commercial approach to getting deals done.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts across media, events, sports and entertainment.

  • Negotiate creator and athlete agreements, including representation, ambassador and talent deals.

  • Advise on intellectual property ownership, protection and exploitation across our content, formats and brands.

  • Draft and negotiate licensing agreements for content, brands and talent IP.

  • Negotiate brand partnership and sponsorship agreements.

  • Manage rights clearances and usage rights for footage, music and content.

  • Prepare NDAs and maintain our standard contract templates.

Requirements:

  • Qualified lawyer with 3+ years' experience in media, entertainment or sports law.

  • Must be an independent operator/freelancer.

  • Strong expertise in intellectual property, licensing and rights management.

  • Proven track record negotiating brand partnership, sponsorship and talent contracts.

  • A practical and commercial approach to getting deals done.

Working with Wavelength:

This is a freelance, ad hoc engagement. You will work directly with our team and we agree on the scope, fee and timelines for each matter in advance.
