About the role
Audit Senior – UK Housing Associations (Registered Providers)
Remote (South Africa) | 12-Month Contract | UK Client Portfolio
GCO Partners is a people-first Talent-as-a-Service business connecting high-calibre professionals from Africa and beyond to meaningful global work—without relocation. We embed experienced auditors directly into UK engagement teams, delivering consistent quality, accountability, and long-term value to our clients.
We are hiring Audit Seniors with recent UK Housing Association (Registered Provider) audit experience to support a leading UK mid-tier accountancy practice across its social housing portfolio. This is a 12-month, long-term engagement for auditors who understand the Housing SORP environment and can deliver to UK standards at pace.
The Role
As an Audit Senior within GCO Partners UK delivery model, you will operate as an extension of the UK engagement team, taking ownership of audits from planning through to completion while working fully remotely from South Africa or Zimbabwe.
Key Responsibilities
Lead external audits end-to-end, from planning and risk assessment through to completion and partner review
Deliver high-quality audit work across UK Housing Associations (Registered Providers) in line with Housing SORP, FRS 102, and UK audit standards
Perform robust risk assessments, substantive testing, and analytical review procedures
Review and coach junior team members, ensuring consistency, quality, and adherence to methodology
Liaise directly with UK client finance teams to resolve audit queries and maintain momentum
Prepare clear, well-structured working papers and audit deliverables within agreed timelines
Minimum Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
Recent UK Housing Association (Registered Provider) external audit experience, including Housing SORP, ideally within the last 2–3 years
CA(SA), ACA, or ACCA qualified, with 2+ years post-qualification (or equivalent senior-level) external audit experience
Strong working knowledge of FRS 102 and UK GAAP in a social housing context
Confident user of CaseWare, CCH, or comparable UK audit software
Strong communication, planning, and stakeholder-management capability in a remote, UK-aligned environment
Based in South Africa or Zimbabwe, with reliable infrastructure to support UK delivery hours
Advantageous Experience
Exposure to charities, public sector, or other regulated entities alongside housing associations
Experience managing multiple concurrent engagements during UK peak periods
Proven ability to operate autonomously while aligning to UK engagement team expectations
Why GCO Partners
Global UK work without relocation, fully remote from South Africa or Zimbabwe
Long-term, structured engagements—not short-term contracting
Direct integration into UK teams with real responsibility and real standards
A people-first delivery model where performance, visibility, and progression are taken seriously
Work that compounds career capital, not just project volume
